Breast Self Exam only takes a few minutes per month and yet it can save your life. The first step entails checking on your breast by looking and touching.
Follow the below 1-2-3 diagrams for instructions.
1. Look in the mirror to see if there are irregularities in the size, shape, discharge, etc. There are four ways of doing it: by letting the arms down, by raising them above your head, by pushing down your buttocks and by bending forward.
2. Lie down with a pillow under your right shoulder. Put your right hand behind your head and feel your right breast with the pads of the 3 middle fingers on your left hand. Start at the outer edge and work around your breast in circles, getting closer to your nipple with each circle. After you've finished checking your right breast, switch your position to check your left breast.
3. With soapy hands and fingers flat, raise your right arm. Check your breast as shown in the lying down position. Use the same small circles and up-and-down. Then switch hands.
